Privacy and Security in AI Transcription

Handing a recording to a transcription tool means handing over whatever was said in it — which can be a client call, a medical consultation, an interview with a source, or a private conversation. It's worth being specific about what actually matters before trusting any tool with that, rather than assuming "AI" implies any particular privacy standard on its own.

A few questions are worth asking of any transcription or translation service. Does it use your uploaded content to train its models? Is your data encrypted in transit? How long is your audio and transcript kept after processing, and can you delete it yourself? Is there a real, named legal entity responsible for your data, and does it comply with a real privacy framework like GDPR, or is that left vague?

On Senite specifically: all traffic to the service is encrypted in transit. Uploaded audio and generated transcripts are not used to train any AI models. Processed files are retained under a configurable, automatically-enforced retention policy — files are archived and then permanently deleted on a schedule rather than kept indefinitely by default — and once a file is purged, that includes the transcript and translation text, not just the downloadable copy. Deleting your account from Settings is self-service and immediate: it deletes your account profile, sign-in credentials, and every audio or result file tied to you outright, and anonymizes the job and session records kept for aggregate usage reporting by stripping every identifying and content field from them. None of this requires emailing support, though support is available for GDPR data-subject requests like access or portability. Cookies are limited to what's necessary to run the service — staying signed in, remembering a language preference, and bot protection — with none used for advertising or cross-site tracking.
